A must-have for most Intranet sites is the ability to publish news-type communications. The first requirement is usually to say... "Hello!" - SharePoint is great at this. The follow on request is typically, "can we have different categories of news so we can create dedicated news feeds per topic?". Also, no problem... did somebody say metadata?! In this module, we will explore all things news and learn how to build a 'digital newsroom' that will be the envy of any internal department!
In this module, you will:
- Learn the fundamentals of how news in SharePoint works
- Structure the 'Site Pages' library (where news lives on your site) with metadata to allow for news categorisation
- Create three different types of news and news post templates (General Updates, Job Opportunities, and To-Know/To-Do)
- Build cross-promotion mechanisms to allow users to discover additional related news articles from within an existing article
- Learn how to use the News web part to target and display specific new types and statuses (Job opportunities will be open or closed)
